Pratiques & Pratiques (P&P) — ISSN: pending — is an open-access journal published by the Bibliothèque Ouverte des Mondes Anciens (BOMA). Reflecting the voice of this independent, non-profit publishing house, the journal provides a space to highlight practices related to Ancient Studies, as well as practical materials designed to promote broader access to knowledge of the past — whether by offering tools to facilitate research or educational resources. Each contribution is editorially reviewed, assigned a DOI and published on Zenodo. Authors retain their rights by publishing their work under the CC BY 4.0 license. Self-archiving is encouraged, particularly on platforms such as HAL. The journal currently contains three sections: the Guides bibliographiques & documentaires (GBD), Librarians & Editors for Ancient Studies. Voices (LEASv) and Bridging Ancient Worlds (BAW).

Guides bibliographiques & documentaires (GBD)

Edited by Edson Poiati Filho & Florine Bodier

The "Guides bibliographiques et documentaires" are designed to facilitate access to the main references on a given topic. Each article provides a bibliographic selection divided into three categories: "Fundamentals," "Essential Developments," and "Complementary Developments." A summary note accompanies each category and outlines the main contributions of the listed references. Each reference includes a link to online sources providing free access to the work, whenever such sources are available.

These guides are designed to be evolving resources. Authors will be invited each year to update and reissue them. Guides may be written in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish or Portuguese.

LIBRARIANS & EDITORS FOR ANCIENT STUDIES. voices. (LEASv)

Edited by Edson Poiati Filho

This thematic section is intended to serve as an observatory of current challenges and choices related to Ancient Studies-specialized librarianship and editorship worldwide. By sharing insights drawn from diverse experiences — through voices reflecting on the practical realities of their activities — it aims to foster dialogue and outline new perspectives for those working behind the scenes of research.

A wide range of topics is welcome: open science, digital transformation, resource accessibility, user engagement and mediation, business models, funding, ecology, bibliodiversity, acquisition policies, cataloguing, thesaurus development, data preservation, and more. For example, contributions may describe current practices and projects within a library, open-access initiatives of a publishing house, the development of a thesaurus, and other related endeavors.

Bridging Ancient Worlds (BAW)

Edited by Victor Braga Gurgel

The aim of this thematic section is to reflect on the challenges faced by diverse agents engaged in the public dissemination of the Ancient World, whether their protagonists are historians, archaeologists, anthropologists, sociologists, linguists, Egyptologists, artists, or professionals from other fields. By building bridges between the ancient worlds and contemporary realities, these individuals encounter a wide range of barriers and reactions, while also actively seeking to overcome and integrate them.

Among these challenges, we highlight the interface between research and society, engagement with conspiracy theories, and issues of identity. In this context, this section will discuss and analyse practices ranging from podcast production, video channels, and other streaming formats to literature, music, and other artistic expressions, as well as gamification.
